Версия с обеспечением сжатия информации широко распространенного в IP-сетях протокола RTP, который предназначен для сквозного транспорта данных реального времени, например аудио или видео. Протокол RTP также служит для поддержки услуг, подобных идентификации типа полезной нагрузки, последовательной нумерации и мониторинга доставки.
